Burren topple Kilcoo to stop seven in a row

Burren have prevented Kilcoo from landing a history making seventh Down Senior football title with a 2-12 to 2-9 this evening in Pairc Esler.

Donal O’Hare turned in a stunning tally of 2-5 for the champions elect over the course of an enthralling game.

Kilcoo looked odds on favourites to claim that historic seventh title racing into a 2-3 to 0-5 lead courtesy of goals from Ceilum Doherty and Jerome Johnston.

Four first half points from Donal O’Hare ensured that Burren went in level at the break on a scoreline of 0-9 to 2-3.

O’Hare netted a second half penalty to give his side the lead before the holders pulled level once again.

There was merely nine minutes left on the clock when Shea McArdle set up O’Hare for his second major to put three between, giving his side a lead they would never surrender on their way to the title.
