John Morrison – Mickey and Jim are very similar

One manager may have not won an All-Ireland title in a decade, and the other has won four in a row, but Mickey Harte and Jim Gavin share many similar management qualities according to John Morrison.

Writing in his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, Morrison explains that great managers share similar qualities.

“Both Jim and Mickey have shown their ability to adapt and evolve. With Dublin, especially with Brian Howard coming in, have tightened their defence this year. Tyrone, through introducing youngsters like Mark Bradley, Harry Loughran and Richie Donnelly, have a much sharper and clinical attacking edge to their play.”

Another winning quality is their decisiveness.

“Jim and Mickey are strong when making the ‘Hard Calls’ and these calls were almost made with the best interests of the team in mind.

“Those decisions were swift and bold, e.g. dropping a big name or moving one on  or bringing someone in. Yes, both Jim and Mickey and Alex etc are never afraid to make the big, difficult calls.”

And these aren’t the only qualities that the two men share.
