Burns steps aside as Down manager

AWAY…Eamonn burns has left his position as Down manager

EAMONN Burns has stepped aside as Down manager after three years in charge.

He informed the Down county management committee of his decision this evening.

A county board meeting is expected to take place tomorrow where the hunt for his successor will begin.

Burns endured a difficult first year in charge, losing every league and championship match, but he took the Mourne county to the Ulster final in 2017.

This year was another disappointing one however with the side suffering relegation to Division Three and a Qualifier exit at the hands of Cavan.
