PgThePt: Recovering for the replay

Make sure you’re adequately hydrated in order to recover in time for a big championship replay

IN his weekly column, Pauric Grimes lays out the four steps required to feel mentally and physically fresh in the lead up to a replay.

Verna Gambetta, leading strength and conditioning coach with numerous professional sports teams in America, was once quoted saying “you body is only as good as its ability to recover.”

With that in mind, your main priority is recovery.

One of the four steps towards doing so is hydration. You need one litre of water for every 28kg of bodyweight and an extra half-litre for every half-four of training. Add in your electrolytesor scoop or whey protein if you want, but most importantly keep getting that water on board.
