PG the PT – Do not miss this event

At 1pm on Saturday the 20th of February in The Edge Sports Performance and Fitness Centre, Augher, I will be running a workshop specifically targeting maximising your pre-season. I’m covering all the bases, from diet and training to building a mind set for success.

If you’re serious about making THIS year YOUR career year – meaning the absolute peak of your playing career to date, then this workshop isn’t for missing. And I know you want this year to be even better than last year. Even if the last 12 months was your finest ever stepping on to a GAA field, you know you can get even better.

Steph Curry, the NBA’s reigning MVP – last year’s top player in the entire league – has kicked on so much this season that not only is he still the best player but he’s also statisically the most improved. Take a second to get your head around that. He is the best player AND the most improved.

There is no limit to how far you can take your game. You determine the ceiling of your potential. If you come to the GAA Pre-Season workshop, you’ve just added a few more floors before you hit your ceiling.

The first topic we’ll be covering is diet. Nutrition can be tricky to really make it work it has to be personal to the individual, so I’m going to tool you up with the knowledge on how to make YOUR diet work for you.

Some of you are going to need to get a little leaner, some of you are going to need to add muscle mass, some of you are going to need more energy and some will just want to eat tasty foods rather than the same old boring thing over and over again. Put a tick beside those boxes, we’ll be covering it all.

Training can be a minefield too. Should you be doing this? Should you be doing that? Is this the best thing to get me fit? Is this the best thing to help me burn fat, etc.

I’m going to give you my personal take on what GAA players should be doing to maximise their potential. And I’m going to be realistic, not everyone can commit to 10 hours of training per week. Sometimes it has to be about maximising the four hours you can commit to.

One area that’s wholly underappreciated in GAA is the mind. Your brain’s a muscle too, and the stronger it is, the stronger you are. I’m going to touch upon ways of sharpening the mind, and creating a bullet-proof, winning mentality.

All I’m doing is loading the barrel. I’ll tool you up with as much knowledge as I can, from there it’s down to you to pull the trigger. Act upon the knowledge you have and start making that career year a reality instead of a dream!
