CHARITY…The GAA has worked with the Kevin Bell Trust in the past

GAELIC Life columnist Cahal Carvill has paid tribute to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.

Kevin lost his life in a suspected hit and run in New York five years ago and his family, who have strong GAA ties, set up the charity to help repatriate Irish people who have lost their lives overseas.

Carvill says that in a time when many are questioning whether or not the GAA still represents the fabric of Irish society, the Trust is a reminder of all that is good.

“Once the confetti falls on two of the four remaining teams left in the All-Ireland series, the powers that be in the GAA must take time to reflect on the purpose of the Association in this 2018; is it to be an Association for the many and not the few, or is it going to continue down the road of elitism and separation? Perhaps a trip to the village of Cloughoe, to the home of Colin and Eithne, would serve as a reminder to the Association of what is important.”
