John Martin – Antrim management need to motivate

The Antrim management have a massive challenge in keeping the county in the Joe McDonagh Cup

John Martin said that the Antrim management team face a race against time to motivate their players to maintain their Joe McDonagh status.

The team are due to play their relegation play off in a fortnight’s team. But Martin says there are issues.

After the Christy Ring replay against Meath in 2016 Dominic McKinley said that Antrim seem to switch off for some reason. He said that that needed to be addressed.

John Martin said:

“In the intervening two years it seems that he still hasn’t found out what’s going on ‘within their heads’.

“There’s just over two weeks for the Antrim managment to get inside their players’ heads.

“I’m going to guess that the situation in the Antrim camp at the minute is something like this: A demotivated squad, probably light a few players  who have gone to the States, low on morale, and over the next two weeks, they will have, at most, two or three poorly attended training sessions.”

He then goes on to explain what the Antrim management need to do to turn that around.
