PG the PT – Worried about keeping your place?

Paraic Grimes says don’t get frustrated if there is a challenge to your place on the team

In his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, Paraic Grimes answers a question that some players may be thinking about at this time of year, namely how they are going to keep their place.

“You’re in your ninth year of playing regular senior football for your club. For the previous eight years your place in the starting 15 was never in doubt, but a disjointed pre season and the emergence of a crop of strong young players has put your place at risk.

“For the first time in your senior career you face a fight for your jersey. How do you react?

“Do you see this challenge as a positive or negative?

“Does it make you train harder to hold on to your spot or do you feel like losing your place has become an inevitability so what is the point in trying?”

Grimes says that the important thing is not to get frustrated.
