GAELIC Life columnist Kevin Cassidy has paid tribute to Gaoth Dobhair legend tom ‘Beag’ Gillespie after the club claimed the Ulster u-21 Championship last weekend.
Writing in today’s edition, Cassidy gives an insight into the role Gillespie has played in the Donegal club, and why the GAA should cherish volunteers who do the same job up and down the country.
“My house is directly across from the GAA pitch in Gaoth Dobhair so just like he used to do with me for years when I was playing, I now see him spending hours upon hours with those younger lads practicing their shooting or free-taking.
This work is done early morning or late at night under the floodlights and far away from any prying eyes.”
