Former Derry star Conor Glass has moved down under for a career in Aussie Rules

BLOSSOMING AFL star Conor Glass has spoken of some of the difficulties acclimatising to life in Australia in an extended feature in this week’s Gaelic Life.

The Derry native won MacRory Cup and Hogan Cups with Maghera before embarking on an entirely different challenge down under.

“They don’t really understand us at all. Conor McKenna got a lot of media scrutiny over the last while because of his accent.

“It is annoying because you have to keep repeating yourself. Even when I came back home the first time, my friends and family said that my accent had changed a bit because I allowed it down to suit the Australians.

“They [Australians] are always smiling, always laughing, but they think that Irish people just drink Guinness and eat potatoes.”
