In his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, Steven Poacher reveals his most recent trip to the Louth county coaching and games department, and he reveals some of the lessons he learned.

Among those were the advice from Mickey Whelan, and Poacher revealed a few of the tidbits:


“Games are so much more beneficial in coaching that drills. Here are some of the benefits of games over drills.

“Constant Regular decision making opportunities.

“They develop thinking footballers and improve their communication.

“They provide constant directional changes and games related movements.”
