John Martin: Why did GAA change progressive proposal?

DECISIONS…This weekend’s Special Congress will have a big impact on the future of the Hurling Championship

GAELIC Life hurling columnist John Martin has called on the GAA to explain why they removed one of the most progressive proposals that would have went in front of this weekend’s Special Congress.

Writing in today’s edition, Martin was left scratching his head at the removal of the proposal that would have allowed a provincial qualifier group winner to play in the Liam MacCarthy in the same year.

“In the week of the All-Ireland hurling final a new set of Central Council proposals appeared. This time without a press release or even a news item on the GAA website,” he said.

“The new CCCC/Central Council proposals removed one of the most progressive elements.”
