St John’s player Matthew Fitzpatrick understands that there is an expectation on the club to start delivering senior championship titles.
The club have won a litany of minor and u-21 titles in recent years, but have yet to capture the senior title.
Ahead of this weekend’s Antrim SFC semi-final against the champions Cargin (Sunday, Lamh Dhearg, 3.30pm) Fitzpatrick said that he doesn’t feel pressure, but knows that they must deliver.
“I know most of the boys won a lot at underage level.
“I know people would say that it needs to bear fruit.
“We have got a lot of young players who were successful at u-21 level and those players are coming through.”
He also goes on to talk about the ‘disaster’ that was last year’s defeat to Cargin in the semi-final.
