Finnian Moriarty: School’s in for winter

STARS ARE BORN…Players like Conor Glass made their name with their school

GAELIC Life columnist Finnian Moriarty has paid tribute to the impact that schools’ football and hurling has on the inter-county game.

The Armagh man, a teacher in Omagh, has penned an impassioned column on the subject in today’s Gaelic Life.

“Take a Conor Glass or a Ronan O’Neill, a Marty Clarke or a Ronan Clarke – these players lit up the playing fields all over Ulster with breath-taking displays of skill for their school teams worthy of gracing any game. And this list of four could be multiplied a thousand times over, back-cataloguing the evolution of players from schools to inter county changing rooms.”

The full column is in today’s Gaelic Life, available in stores now or online here.
