Dromore boss says Clonoe game will be ‘trench warfare’

Dromore’s Sean McDonnell and Ciaran McCoy clash with Clonoe’s Conor Hughes and Shane McCourt

The tie of the weekend in the Tyrone Senior Championship opening round is undoubtedly the clash of Dromore and Clonoe.

It’s a west versus east clash between two teams who have realistic ambitions of capturing the title.

Dromore manager Ciaran Meenagh spoke to Gaelic Life about the game, and he said: “I expect it to be another trench warfare-type battle, which will go right till the death.

“I’d say we’ll go in as underdogs even though we are both near the top of the league.

“People might have said we aren’t going as well as we were last year, and I suppose that is a good way for us to go into the game.

“The lads will feel they have a point to prove.”

Damian Cassidy, who is in his eighth year in charge of Clonoe, went on to explain their own issues with injuries.
