GAELIC Life columnist Finnian Moriarty said that Down’s decision to revert back to the kick-pass was instrumental in their shock win over Monaghan last weekend.
Writing in today’s edition, Moriarty dissects the Mourne county’s performance and praises Eamonn Burns for going for it.
“Instead of sitting back and playing a dysfunctional blanket, they’re now kicking and running after it.
“Twenty-six times on Saturday Down men used their boot to supply their forward line with possession, an almost unattainable stat for them but three months ago.”
