DECISION…After losing to Antrim, Donegal pulled out of their match with Down

GAELIC Life hurling columnist John Martin has said that Donegal have been vindicated in their decision not to contest the Ulster Championship relegation play-off.

Writing in today’s newspaper, Martina argues that their Nicky Rackard win against Armagh, their first victory against the Orchard county since 1973, proves that it was worthwhile.

“The Rackard Cup campaign was obviously where the thoughts of Donegal boss Ardal McDermott were when he decided to accept relegation to the Ulster Shield for 2018 and instead prepare his team for their showdown against Armagh,” he said.

“And his decision was vindicated with a nine-point win over the Orchardmen.”

GAELIC Life columnist Kevin Cassidy fully expects Donegal to end Fermanagh’s quest for a first Ulster title on Sunday.

ARMAGH are currently set to be without nine players for Sunday’s Ulster U-20 final against Derry.

John Martin says the Antrim players aren't motivated enough.
