Down v Fermanagh (Saturday, 7pm, Pairc Esler) – Live on Premier Sports

IN this week’s edition of Gaelic Life, Down legend Ross Carr has argued that the intercounty side are better primed than last year for a successful campaign.

Seven losses from seven games capped off a miserable time in Division One last term for Eamonn Burns’s side, but the Hilltown native believes that Down can do better in Division Two, beginning with Saturday’s crunch clash against Fermanagh.

“Eamonn’s appointment last year came at a very volatile time within the county of which he had no doing, but he ended up with all the issues that surrounded that. Therefore he was spinning plates,” Carr said.

“We just weren’t good enough to stay in Division One last year.

“This year Eamonn has had a longer pre-season and hopefully the guys are more familiar with one another and there’s more understanding with one another.”
