John Morrison has revealed what he believes are the four best traits of a coach

IN his column in this week’s Gaelic Life, John Morrison states his belief that coaches must regularly meet on a one-to-one basis with their players.

He also that current coaching courses are too theory-based and that more challenging courses are need to draw out the leadership qualities of budding coaches.

He said: “I advocate a one-to-one talk with each player at least once a week (doesn’t have to be long-winded). Tutor and ultimately coaches/leaders should raise the quality of their conversations with players.

“Knowledge and skills will enable players and coaches to do their jobs, but it’s insights and values that really change them.

“So do make the effort to spark excitement about the team, their play etc, and how they can lead their fellow players.”
