Ulster council seeking replacement for Danny Murphy

The Ulster Council have begun their search to replace Danny Murphy.

Advertisements calling for applications for the position of Provincial Secretary/Chief Executive Officer have been published in the Gaelic Life and other northern papers this week.

According to the advertisement, the person they are looking for will be ‘responsible for developing the vision and strategies for growth of the GAA in the province, and for implementing short and long range plans to achieve the Association’s goals.’

The Ulster Council are seeking an experienced professional with a passion for the promotion of Gaelic Games and Irish Culture, and who will have extensive management experience at a senior level in the private, public or sports sector.

Danny Murphy will step down as Ulster Secretary on Feburay 1 next year after 16 years as head of the provincial body.

In this week’s Gaelic Life, former Ulster President Martin McAviney said of Murphy: “He was a pleasure to work with when I was President as it had to be a partnership.”
