During championship time, managers won’t want to overload their players.

The hard work should have been done in the build up to the campaign. But how do coaches make sure that their players are maintaining peak fitness without risking over training them?

Steven Poacher, in his column this week, suggests that pool sessions provide managers with the perfect solution:

“Water is great for training and it offers a high resistance workout but most importantly its completely low impact!

“Training in the pool is as simple as training on land; you just basically get into the water and start running! All you need is access to a swimming pool and some floatation belts specifically designed for water running.

“There are many advantages of pool running.”

These include muscle conditioning, aerobic training, and low contact.
