JOE Brolly has said that Donegal and Mayo must access their crazy side if they are to stand a chance against Dublin and Tyrone on Saturday.

Writing in today’s Gaelic Life column, Brolly said that was one of the key reasons why the Derry team of 1993 were able to overcome some difficult situations en-route to their All-Ireland success.

“When my name was read out at number 13 before the semi-final and final, I almost wept. It was as though my life, our lives, depended on winning that All-Ireland,” he said.

“So, when we faced adversity on the field, for example in the semi-final, when the hot favourites Dublin were beating us by five points at half time and strolling, we dipped into the craziness inside us and quickly broke them.

“We drove at them in waves, tackled with absolute fury, sprinted after lost causes and generally behaved as if the future of humanity was at stake. Come the last 10 minutes, the Dublin supporters were silent and their players bore expressions that said “These lads are crazy.”

Brolly also looks at the strengths and weaknesses of the four teams that will play at Croke Park this weekend, and this week’s edition is available online here.
