The Tyrone panel celebrate following their 1-17 to 0-15 win over Cavan

Tyrone beat Cavan by 1-17 to 0-15 in the Division two league final at Croke Park on Sunday in a game in which both teams showed their considerable talents.

The Red Hands were the better team of course, owing to both their greater strength and depth, but also their tactical nous.

The game was played at a pace more akin to championship football, and that will have pleased both managers.

Connor McAliskey was the star for Tyrone, as he scored 0-5, but the Tyrone defence also deserve great credit for keeping tabs on David Givney, Gearoid McKiernan and Seanie Johnston.
