Anxious wait for Clarke

By Niall McCoy

NEW Armagh manager Paul Grimley is unlikely to have a number of players, including Ronan Clarke, available for the 2013 McKenna Cup and National League.
Clarke was carried off in Pearse Og’s Armagh semi-final win over Cullyhanna two weeks ago, and now faces an anxious wait ahead of a scan on his Achilles on Wednesday.
It’s the latest set-back for the incredible talent, and, once again, puts his future county hopes in jeopardy.
If the prognosis is not as bad as first feared, Clarke will be looking to get back in an orange jersey next year. He, of course, will miss next weekend’s county final against Crossmaglen.
Rory Grugan meanwhile, will also miss the league as he is currently in France and will not return until April.
Goalkeeper Niall Geoghegan is also in England for the foreseeable future, but he will be training over there and travelling back for games.
