Paddy Kelly hopes that Derry can win something so that they can put a shine a season that has, for him, been somewhat disappointing.

The Oak Leafers failed to gain promotion in Division 2A, were beaten by London in the Christy Ring and last weekend were hammered by Antrim in the Ulster final.

It was not a terrible season, but Kelly is a player who needs trophies.

“It would be nice to win something this season,” he said.

However, Kelly admitted that for Ger Rogan’s side to annex the u-21 title they are going to have to do so with very little preparation. Indeed, Kelly says that not enough time is given over to the competition.

“I have only played in it once before, the time I played there wasn’t much effort put in. There was only one training session,” Kelly said.

“I suppose that last year people didn’t care too much about it.”
