Hurling Championship hots up

Castleblayney's Michael McHugh will be in Championship action this weekend
Carrickmacross v Inniskeen
Thursday, 8pm, Carrickmacross
Carrickmacross are unlikely to turn their championship around tonight against Inniskeen. They met in the league at the start of June and Inniskeen won by 17 points.
The Grattan’s won their two Championship games since then, while Carrickmacross have picked up just one victory in three matches, that was against the whipping boys Monaghan Harps.
While Carrickmacross won that game by five points, Inniskeen beat Monaghan Harps by the massive scoreline of 7-18 to 1-6 which suggests that they are a good bit stronger than their opponents.
Inniskeen won the county championship in 2010, the first in their history, but they were unable to defend that victory last season, as Castleblayney regained the top spot, beating the Grattan’s in the final.
It would appear that we are heading for the same pairing in this year’s decider as ‘Blayney are out in front in the Championship standings, having won all three of their first games.
Inniskeen’s only other result this season was against Truagh, 3-22 to 2-5. These are convincing results and Inniskeen will be expected to kick on.
