Foreglen exceeding expectations

Foreglen's Kevin O'Connor

FOREGLEN have earned their place in the top three of division two this season, but they have managed this feat without two of their key players.

Kevin O’Connor has been injured since the start of the league and hasn’t played any competitive football for the club.

At the same time, Niall McFeely is unavailable because he is serving a three-month suspension.

They still managed to win eight of their first 11 matches, a statistic equalled by Newbridge and Ballymaguigan, though [before Wednesday night’s matches] the latter side had lost less games.

“So far it has been a good season,” said Foreglen boss Paddy Downey.
“Foreglen have a small pick of senior players and we have had a bad run of injuries and players who have left or decided to emigrate.

“But, and this is not me just saying it, all the players have all really pulled together this season. You really enjoy going to training, it is a great feeling. There is always a laugh and it is a pleasure to be training this team. Some of them complain when you ask them to do something, but no matter what, they still do it.”
