Newtown finally at full strength

NEWTOWNBUTLER boss Mickey Fox says that he believes his team are capable of beating anyone in the division.

However, they have suffered a poor campaign so far this season, limping to three defeats in their first five matches.

Fox blamed their poor run of results on injuries. Ryan Carson has been missing due to a hamstring injury, while Clive Fitzpatrick was ruled out with same problem, and Colum Monaghan has been missing because of a suspension.

But Newtown will have a full compliment this weekend when they play Teemore. Their absentees all returned last night, in their match against Roslea.

“We have had a lot of injuries. We are hopeful that with them back we will be able to kick on. To be honest, there are no easy games in the league as we have found out, and I know from past history,” Fox said.

Newtown began their season with a 0-10 apiece draw with Devenish, but then slumped to a defeat against county champions Roslea before bouncing back to beat Tempo by two goals, 2-9 to 0-9. However, they followed that up with losses against Belcoo and Lisnaskea.

“Every game is a Championship match. You can’t take any team for granted. The teams that you think you might beat are the teams that usually end up beating you.”
