SUCCESS in the Lory Meagher Cup has been set as the primary target for the Tyrone hurlers whose campaign in the competition begins with an away clash against Leitrim this Saturday in Ballinamore.
Last year they lost narrowly in the final to Donegal at Croke Park. But now there’s renewed confidence over their prospects of making a mark.
Team manager Tom McGill has acknowledged his determination to do well in the Lory Meagher and the expectation is that they will get off to a winning note against the Connacht side.
Leitrim failed to reach the Division Four final and, while they have been holding their own, the Connacht team shouldn’t pose any serious problems for the Red Hands.
“The Lory Meagher is a big priority for us because of what happened last year when we were two points ahead going into the final minutes and then let the game slip,” said Tyrone trainer, Tommy Stevenson.
