Convery praises Rogan's tenure

Derry's Ruairi Convery
Wicklow v Derry
Saturday, Arklow, 2.30pm
DERRY forward Ruairi Convery says that this season is the best he has ever experienced as a county hurler.
The Oak Leafers began their Christy Ring Cup campaign last weekend with a one point result against Kildare, 2-18 to 1-22, the team that hammered them in last year’s competition.
It was an exciting victory from Derry who deserved the victory despite needing a late goal from Paddy Henry to seal the result.
One swallow does not make a summer, and one win does not mean Derry are All-Ireland champions, however Convery believes that this year, the attitude among the team is very different.
“I think that Ger and Shane and Tom taking us away at the start of the year for a team bonding session brought everybody together.
“There were two or three new boys there, Charles Gilmore, Michael Warnock, Sean McGuigan. There are lads there who maybe have not played for Derry before so that really helped them.”
