Ahead of this weekend’s All-Ireland Colleges B final, coach Martin O’Rourke said that it will take a good team to beat Bessbrook.

O’Rourke coaches the team alongside John Rafferty, and the duo guided the young Armagh footballers to victory against St Coleman’s College, Fermoy, in the semi-final.

The big bonus in that game was the return of fifth year Peter Hughes, who started at corner back for the team last season, but who had been injured up until the semi-final.

“I thought that we played well. We came in at half time and we were probably a bit over confident because we were three points up [0-4 to 0-1] playing against the wind,” O’Rourke said of the semi-final against Fermoy.

The Cork team took advantage of that complacency and hit two goals early in the second half. The team learned a valuable lesson though.

“In all of our games we were leading from the front, but in that game we had to come from behind which was good,” O’Rourke said.
